“Our Story”

"LET US RISE UP AND BUILD"
Nehemiah 4:17

How we started...

Black Families Matter is an initiative of Freedom’s Journal Institute for the Study of Faith and Public Policy 501(c)(3),which is commitment to advancing God’s Kingdom through sociopolitical education and engagement; and, an unwavering resolve to strengthen, encourage and empower individuals, families and communities through a set of firmly held tenets we call the R.I.S.E. principles: Responsible government, Individual liberty and fidelity, Strong family values, and Economic empowerment.
Join us at the Black Conservative Summit to learn how you can get involved in the black community to scaffold positive change towards a Biblical focus on black family culture.
Your Biblical manhood and womanhood is secured through your identity in Christ.

Cultivating the Vision...

Black Families Matter is committed to the upliftment and support of traditional marriage and family life through the breaking of spiritual “strongholds”, which have plagued humanity since the Fall of mankind. Despite the challenges, our vision necessitates the reversing of “strongholds” which have held our families and communities in bondage including: a loss or lack of authentic view of one's historical lineage and, or heritage rooted in biblical manhood and womanhood, and secured through one's identity in Christ; the dsyfunctional consequences of anger and rage turned inward and then out from those struggling to effectively deal with the adversity and uncertainties of life; and similarly, the hopelessness and despair exhibited in our children as well as those fallen prey to the violence of gang affiliation, drug addictions, as well as the destructive and negative self-images reinforced through culture, entertainment and a variety of media platforms, to name a few.

Stronger Together:
Black Family Manifesto  [excerpt]...

The fight to fortify and defend against the attack on the Family requires the efforts of all of us. It’s starts with our collective commitment to uphold marriage and family life as: a sacred bond and covenant, which when honored is both mutually satisfying and rewarding; an authentic expressing of unconditional love with focus on loving God, and one another both deeply and sacrificially; a truly liberating pursuit of personal freedoms, which graciously prioritize acceptance and forgiveness of self and others; the celebrating and empowering of every person towards becoming who God has called and created him or her to be; and a vision for our homes and communities where those who are hurting, and in need, experience the security and empathy of feeling both felt and heard.

Your part in the story...

NEHEMIAH 4:11-14
"PUT YOUR MIND ON THE GREAT AND AWESOME GOD; AND THEN FIGHT FOR YOUR BROTHERS, YOUR SONS, YOUR DAUGHTERS, YOUR WIVES, AND YOUR HOMES".

It's time to “rise up and build”.

It is easier to build strong children—than to repair broken men.
